Our first summer tour was a great success! We had a crazy breakdown at the very beginning of our trip and we were without air conditioning in the sweltering 90 degrees all the way from Florida to Michigan. Traveling in a motor home is a learning experience and we had some ups and downs, but all worth it to spend time with my mom whom I hadn't seen in a year. The cooler weather when we arrived was a welcome reprieve.
For those who don't know, I am a speaker for Christian Women's Connection of Fl, and my husband Duane and I sing a country set sometimes for the groups as well, and even have our two children, Devin 13 yrs, and Daphne 11 yrs, join us in a song. Our first group was at the famous Zehnder's Restaurant in Frankenmuth, MI where they are known for their beautiful Bavarian architecture and the world's largest Christmas store. I was also blessed to be able to attend a Carol Kent Speak Up Writers Conference in Grand Rapids, MI in between performances. What an amazing experience of speakers, learning, and meeting new friends. The highlight was that I have been writing a book for the last year and was able to pitch my book to 3 publishers and was told to send them book proposals!! The whole experience was refreshing, exhilarating, and challenging.
My last speech was in Normal, Illinois and it was normal and wonderful. Every group is a great time of connecting with new sisters in Christ. Thankfully we drove home with air conditioning.
Now we are deep into homeschooling and finishing my book as we keep striving to seek and do HIS will for our lives!
